Deck for Days and Pickupball (Basketball)
For your last blog post, please discuss one of the business models you found interesting from this week’s presentations of our final projects. Please do not discuss your own proposed business model. Highlight the strengths of the business model and provide some suggestions for improvement.
I personally liked the business models for Deck for Days and Pickupball (Basketball). However, I don’t do either of these – don’t snowboard or don’t play basketball. Both of these business models have some strengths and some weaknesses.
For Deck for Days, it would not have issues finding out the customer with proper advertising but issue would be effective and efficient inventory management as Inventory would be their biggest cost. I didn’t see a business model or plan that how inventory of snowboarding would be implemented. They really have to focus on one of the building block of the business model canvas would be cost structure and key partnerships.
For Pickupball, it would not be that hard to write a code and have website up and running but the challenge would be 1) how to tie up with county, schools etc for using the fields and 2) As it was mentioned in one of the blog that it can easily be implemented by Google even Facebook or any other front-runner – might be a perfect exit strategy. They really have to focus on one of the building block of the business model canvas would be key partnerships and revenue stream – specially because they like to be bought out and there should be some value to it…! I would recommend that business model should be designed in such a way that it can easily add more sports.
Both of these business ideas should clearly identify key resources and key activities to be successful.
